Fiji Judgment Explainer
Court judgments are public. Understanding them shouldn't need a law degree. Give a case number and get a plain-English explanation of a published Fiji judgment, with every point showing the paragraph it comes from.
How to use it
- Type a case number in the chat, for example HBC 131 of 2023 or ABU 6 of 2023.
- Confirm it's the right case.
- You get a plain-English summary: who was involved, what happened, what the court decided and what it ordered.
How it works
- Official source. It looks the judgment up on the Fiji Judiciary's public website, not a general web search.
- Reads the whole thing. It reads every page of the judgment before explaining it, including scanned ones.
- You can check it. Every point shows the paragraph number it comes from, like [para 12], and the court's orders are quoted word for word.
Good to know
- It only covers published judgments. If a case isn't on the Judiciary website, it will tell you rather than guess.
- It explains one judgment at a time and only answers questions about Fiji judgments.
- Names of victims and children stay anonymised, as they are in the judgment.
- This is a beta. It may make mistakes, so check the paragraph references against the judgment.
